New Morning and Afternoon Routine /Amended 7th January

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Many thanks for your co-operation in implementing our new morning arrival and afternoon departure procedures. Following further consideration, we intend to make some changes to these procedures.

With effect from Wednesday 8th January 2020, the following arrival & departure procedures will now apply for entry to and exit from the Infant school.

To minimise congestion on Griffith Ave please do not arrive at the school gates before 9 am unless you have girls attending the Girls School. Those of you with children in the Infant School only please arrive between 9.05 am – 9.20 am. Formal instruction begins at 9.20 am so there is no compulsion to be in school before then.

Arrival procedures.

  • Pupils in Rooms 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 11, & 12 will access the school through the school gate closest to the credit union and will enter through the door between the school hall and main building. Parents/guardians of senior infant pupils are encouraged to let them proceed unaccompanied, from the school gate to their classrooms. Parents/guardians of junior infant pupils must accompany them to their classrooms.
  • Pupils in rooms 1a, 2a & 3a, 1, 2, 3 & 14 will access the school through the school gate closest to the church and enter through the church side door or proceed to the pre-fabs after 9am.  Parents/guardians of First Class pupils are encouraged to let them proceed from the school gate unaccompanied directly to their classrooms.
  • Please note that these two pedestrian access gates (the gate closest to the credit union & the gate closest to the church) will be open from 8.45 am but strictly for access by the Girls School pupils only.
  • Parents may not enter the school grounds before 9 am unless it is to attend a pre-arranged meeting.

For those parents/guardians who accompany pupils into the school please remember, after exiting from the front door, to exit through either of the two pedestrian side gates (the gate at the credit union side and the one at the church side). Do not exit or enter through the middle gate in the morning time. This is for cars only.

Departure procedures.

  • Rooms 4,5,6 (Junior Infants)
Will be collected from the side door beside the school hall and will exit through the Credit Union-side pedestrian gates. Parents are requested to wait outside these gates until 1.50 collection time.
  • Rooms 8,9,10,11,12 (Senior Infants)
Will walk out the front door with the teacher and assemble at the front door or on the grass at the credit union side.
  • Parents collecting from rooms 8, 11 and 12 are asked to wait outside the credit union-side gates until the class is lined up for collection and may also exit through the credit union side pedestrian gate.
  • Parents collecting from rooms 9 and 10 are asked to enter and exit after 1.55 through the middle gates.

  • Rooms 1,2,3 and 14 (Junior Infants and First Classes )
Will exit via the church -side door to the left of the school. Parents of these first classes are requested to wait outside the church-side pedestrian gates until 2 o'clock to allow the junior infant classes to exit first.

  • Rooms 1a, 2a and 3a (Prefabs, First Classes)
Parents of these first classes are requested to wait outside the church-side pedestrian gates until 2 o'clock when the teachers will line the class upon the path at the front church side of the school.Parents may then walk to the teacher and collect their children.

  • Teachers will hold their class numbers for ease of collection.
  • Parents are asked to leave the school grounds immediately upon collection to avoid congestion.
  • We ask parents to ensure that the cycle lane is kept clear at all times.
  • The above arrangements may be changed if deemed necessary, as the building work progresses.

If you wish to leave a bike/scooter in the bicycle shelter in the yard, you must either supervise your child in doing so, via the narrow passage to the right of the school hall or better still drop your child to the correct gate/door and bring the bike/scooter to the shelter yourself.

It is imperative that parents notify crèches, minders etc. of all new procedures. The school does not communicate such changes.

Many thanks for your cooperation.

Kind regards,
